Biography
24 year old singer songwriter and multi-instrumentalist Michael Mormecha has an alter ego which comes in the shape and form of the project clown parlour. For four years this has been an experimental studio project but now it’s ready to give birth onto our airwaves with this, thought provokingly titled, debut release ‘…introducing clown parlour’.
The idea of clown parlour is to have no barriers from the genre to production, it goes from dark gritty folk to light soulful pop, from ice cream van jingles to door slams and foot steps across your speakers, out of tune recorders, Russian folk chants, pitchshifted drums, double bass, cellos, bells…the usual… but always, always expect melodious tunes with sing along choruses and hooks you could whistle all day. The sound, as bizarre as it is, has now also taken on the form of a live band and the beauty of each show is that it can have any number of players not limiting the sound to any specific genre. The record will be toured in the autumn.
Influences include the beatles, nine inch nails, elliot smith, ludwig van….you know the deal anything good. Mormecha is already planning and writing the next clown parlour record so expect more weird and wonderful madness from the ‘world of’ clown parlour (can’t wait to hear what he calls the next release!).
